Well, as we all assumed it would, the U.S. Government has shutdown. And while yesterday we addressed what this might mean for the Saltwater Nation in terms of beach access, today we need to point out that the shutdown has also closed NOAA. So, members of the Saltwater Nation, you may want to switch to alternate weather information outlets during the shutdown.
Interestingly, though, the National Marine Fisheries Service web pages are still up and running with a text overlay that says “This site will remain accessible during the federal government shutdown. However, information on the site may not be up to date and we may not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.”
To confirm, too: INVENTIVE FISHING WILL NOT SHUT DOWN. (Though, we, too, await a time when appropriations will be enacted).
