Saltwater Nation: Australia

Inventive Fishing is committed to bringing you all kinds of news from around the Saltwater Nation.  So, when we came across this news item, we figured that you needed to see it, as well, because, let’s face it, when it comes to such despicable acts, the Saltwater Nation is likely to be the most sympathetic audience there is. This story comes from The Esperance Express in Western Australia. According to the story posted yesterday, Esperance police are currently investigating a break in at a resident’s garden shed. Items taken from the shed included 17 fishing rods and five fishing reels. The Esperance Express reports that the stolen gear includes “a Penn 950 fishing reel, an Okuma six foot fishing rod, an Okuma eight foot fishing rod (in yellow, red and black), a Mako 12 foot fishing rod and reel combo, a Pfleuger fishing reel, a Pen [sic] seven and a half foot fishing rod and a number of Jarvis Walker fishing rods and reels.”

Local police are appealing to members of the public to come forward if they are approached by anyone selling cheap fishing equipment, particularly and of the items listed here.

Inventive Fishing urges the Esperance police force, in particular Sergeant Beswick, to step up their efforts in this investigation. This is an act of extreme immoral jackassedness. The perpetrator must be apprehended and the precious gear of the victim returned. We urge the perpetrator to turn him or herself in immediately. We urge the Australian government to reinstate capital punishment for this case; otherwise, the criminal responsible for this heartbreaking crime must be sentenced to life without parole in Casuarina Prison or banished to the Great Pit of Carkoon to be digested by the almighty Sarlaac.
