On October 3, 2013, tuna fisherman Steve McNally was fishing by himself off of Cape Cod when he hooked a rather large tuna–a 650-pounder. Though McNally had landed bigger fish, including an 1,100 pound tuna he caught a few years ago, the 650-pounder was more than he could handle by himself. So, he did what any one would do: he sent out a distress call.

Fortunately, angler Gregg Looney heard the call and he and his fishing buddies came to McNally’s assistance. Looney, you may recall, made headlines this past summer when he and three of his buddies landed a 920-pound bluefin tuna while fishing with Captain Kevin Leonowert from the National Geographic reality show “Wicked Tuna.” Conveniently Looney and his buddies were once again out with Leonowert when McNally’s distress call came across the radio.

Needless to say, when Looney, his buddies, and Leonowert joined McNally in the effort, the tuna was simply out gunned. I mean, let’s face it, that’s a lot of tuna expertise packed in two boats. It took the six tuna masters all of 25 minutes to boat the 650-pound tuna once Looney and company arrived at the scene.

This video posted to YouTube offers a quick glimpse of the event:
