The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has announced that Florida anglers can once again catch and keep limited numbers of grouper taken in state waters in the Atlantic out to three miles beginning May 1, 2013. The season will remain open until January 1, 2014. Monroe County Atlantic-side waters are included in this harvest season. Recreational and commercial anglers will be able to keep limited numbers of fish, including gag, black, red, yellowmouth, yellowfin and tiger grouper; scamp; red hind; rock hind; coney; and graysby.
Recreational anglers may not take more than three grouper per person per day, one of which may be a gag or black grouper (not both). Be sure you know all grouper regulations! And, don’t forget when grouper fishing, you must have required dehooking and venting tools aboard.
