The 30th Golden Lure Fishing Tournament kicked off in waters off Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia today. The tournament is hosted by the Port Macquarie Game Fishing Club and based at the Port Macquarie Marina.

31 boats competed on the first day with 146 anglers participating.

Tournament officials reported numerous marlin being tagged and resealed throughout the day, including a 145kg blue marlin by the crew of the Animal which includes Port Macquarie Game Fishing Club president Michael Giles.
