The Game Fishing Association of Australia  has certified that eight-year-old Jet Edwards of Cairns has set a new national record for the biggest trevally caught by a child age 11 or younger. Jet hooked his 14.8 kg (32.628 lbs) trevally near Innisfail, south of Cairns, and fought the fish for about 45 minutes before bringing it to boat.
