According Ocearch, Katharine is an immature female who weighs in at 2,300 pounds and just over 14 feet in length. She was tagged on August 19, 2013 off of Cape Cod. Katharine was named in honor of Katharine Lee Bates, a Cape Cod native and songwriter, who is best known for her poem and song “America The Beautiful,” which has been called “an expression of patriotism at its finest.”
The question that shark enthusiasts are now asking is whether Katherine will hang out in Florida waters for the duration of the winter or start making her way home to Cape Cod.
Katharine is also becoming a social media star, with more than 270 people following her on Twitter. More chilling, though, is the fact that she’s following more than 90 people. She’s a hungry girl.
