Saltwater Nation anglers are reporting that action off of Pier 60 in Clearwater Beach is really on fire. Spanish mackerel up to 20 inches have been hitting just about any bait–shrimp and whitebait, in particular–just after first light. Anglers using shiny lures and spoons have also seen their share of the action. Anglers using live shrimp and small jigs have also been rewarded with a steady bite of pompano. The bag is also supplemented with an increasing number of bluefish, lady fish, jacks, and enough 18 inch flounder to keep things interesting. Night fishing has also turned on with good runs of sea trout and silver trout.
