Nature, an international weekly journal of science, has recently published an interesting article about the use of Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs).

FADs, most simply put, are rafts that anglers use to attract fish. They are used worldwide, and have been used through human history. Sport fishermen have notoriously used FADs to attract dolphin, cobia, and other pelagic species for as long as there have been sport fishermen.

The article is interesting in that it is not calling for a ban on the use of FADs, just a better understanding of how they are used around the world and what their impact might be.
