Former University of Florida Gator Head Football Coach Urban Meyer (he works somewhere else now) and his 14-year-old son Nate will be featured on an episode of the Outdoor Channel’s Gridiron Outdoors this Friday, January 31.

The episode features the Meyers fishing for bonefish in the Abacos Islands last July 10 (Coach Meyers’ 49th birthday).  Meyers has fished the Florida Keys before with Nate, as part of an agreement he has with his children about not missing “family time.”

Coach Meyer talks with show host Mike Pawlawski about fishing, football, and family, and apparently lands his first bone fish (about three-pounds, we hear), and the pic below seems to confirm.

Conveniently, though, the Abacos trip unfolded just as Meyer was taking a pounding in the press for his handling of Aaron Hernandez while the two were at Florida.

The show will debut on the Outdoor Channel this Friday at 10:30pm and will be rerun on Saturday, February 1 at 7:30 am and 8:00pm and again on Monday, February 3 at 10:30am.
