The wind is up this weekend around the Upper Texas coast, blowing around 10-20 out of the Northeast, but we’re getting good reports from around Galveston, Rockport, and Freeport from anglers hitting the water any way.
Galveston anglers are reporting good catches of of sheepshead and some drum around the jetty. There are also some black drum being caught near Texas City. Redfish and trout are starting to hit along the West Matagorda Bay. We haven’t heard anything from East bay anglers, but anticipate the fishing to improve by Big Boggy National Wildlife refuge.
We have heard from a few folks working Aransas bay near Rockport, where they are finding nice reds in holes during low tide. Anglers have also been finding black drum south of Aransas Pass near Ingleside.
With water temperatures now pushing into the upper 50s, these reports should keep getting better.
