Dolphin in NC

Well, the water is starting to warm again, and the dolphin have returned to the Tar Heel State’s offshore waters. In fact, reports are that the dolphin bite is exceptional right now, and we’re hearing about good sized fish.

Bigger fish are being reported farther out, in the 100-200 fathom range, but fish are also being caught in much closer, as well.

The difficulty is finding solid weed lines. Right now the grass is scattered, but fish are being taken around larger clumps of floating weeds and other debris.

Anglers have been finding singles, doubles and triples of larger, gaff-worthy fish.

Chances are, of course, that if the dolphin have started to show in NC waters, the billfish are there, too–or will soon be.

FISH ON!
