Cullen Green of Huston, Texas, has landed what may well be the third-largest Warsaw caught in Louisiana waters and the fifth largest ever taken.

The fish, weighing in at 297 pounds and measuring 6 and 1/2 feet long and 6 feet around, still needs final Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association verification for record status, but that is expected to come soon.

Green caught the grouper on live bait in about 500-600 feet of water near an offshore oil rig approximately 35 miles offshore.

The current IGFA world record stands at 436 lb 12 ounces, taken by Steve Haeusler from the Gulf of Mexico off of Florida in December, 1985. The Louisiana record is 359.1 pounds and was set in November 2008.
