Mexico to Lift Recreational Fishing Ban on Bluefin Tuna

The Sportfishing Association of California (SAC) has announced that through its efforts working with Mexico’s National Aquaculture and Fishing Commission (CONAPESCA) they have received verbal confirmation that Mexico will lift the ban on recreational bluefin tuna fishing that was imposed on July 14.

Mexican officials announced the closure in July, but many recreational fishermen understood the closer to be directed specifically at commercial fishermen. To quell all confusion, Mexico clarified the following day that the ban included all recreational fishing, as well as commercial fishing.

SAC representatives expect that CONAPESCA will issue a written statement tomorrow (8/11/14) confirming the reopening of the recreational bluefin harvest.

FISH ON!
