The UK newspaper The Telegraph and the US newspaper Daily News are reporting that German angler Michael Eisele caught a record breaking 103 pound Atlantic cod in the Breivikfjord near Hammerfest, northern Norway on April 28, 2013.

According to The Telegraph, historical records show that fish of this size used to be common in these waters, but that fish between 24 and 33 pounds (fish this size are usually about 10 years old) are now more common.
Eisele has donated the record cod to the Norwegian Fisheries Museum in Bergen.
