We’re getting word from all along the South Carolina coast that the inshore fishing is great and heating up. We’re hearing decent reports of cobia being taken in the southern part of the state, especially around Beaufort and Port Royal down past Paris Island to Hilton Head, with one or two reports from Huntington Island as well.
We’ve also been hearing about nice catches of flounder in areas from Surfside Beach south, with particularly good reports coming in from Edisto Island near Beaufort and Murrell’s Inlet just north of Huntington Beach State Park.
There have been nice catches of trout taken in the Charleston area, particularity around the creek mouths. The sheepshead have also been active in the area. Keep in mind that the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources has increased the size limit on sheepshead to 14 inches total length.
