Jason Johnston of Mesquite, Texas may have set a new world record for largest mako shark. Johnston was fishing off of Huntington Beach in Southern California while filming the Outdoor Channel’s “The Professionals” aboard a charter run by Mako Matt’s and Breakaway Charters.

According to Johnston, it took more than two hours to land the shark, which the crew enticed with chum and cut bait. “He took out a quarter-mile of line . . . and five times he came out of the water over 20 feet,” Johnston said.

The mako weighed in at 1,323.5 pounds, measuring approximately 11 feet. Whoa.
