The Fishing Wire Newsletter is reporting today that the International Game Fish Association received nearly 50 world record applications in May, 2013. The newsletter post highlights nine of the saltwater record applications, which reflect some really amazing catches. Included are applications for records for southern bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii), California yellowtail (Seriola lalandi), pollock (Pollachius virens), Atlantic sailfish (Istiophorus platypterus), bonnethead shark (Sphyrna tiburo), black drum (Pogonias cromis), great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), tarpon (Megalops atlanticus), and Atlantic cod (Gadus morhus).
