Tropical Storm Andrea delayed the start of the 2013 Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic and the lingering effects of the tournament made fishing tough. But, 52 boats still managed to participate in the tournament despite less-than-optimal conditions.
Corbin Bass of Port Mansfield, Texas claimed the top prize with a 439 pound blue marlin. Bass was fishing aboard the Pipe Dream, a 60-foot Spencer also from Port Mansfield. The Pipe Dream was captained by Justin Drummond.
The Top Boat award went to Breathe Reel Deep captained by Shawn Clemons put of Orange Beach, Alabama. Angler Nancy Paul, fishing aboard the Inlet Magic out of North Palm Beach, Florida and captained by Jeremy Miles, took the top award fro tuna with a 163 pounder. The top wahoo prize went to Scott Green fishing aboard the testing the water out of Orange Beach, Alabama and captained by Matt Dunn. Taylor Harvey, fishing with Captain Michael Gordy aboard the 65 foot Hatteras Four Reel landed the winning dolphin, bringing a 53.2 fish to scale.
