David Tuthill of Ft. Lauderdale, FL had been working in Hong Kong for nearly seven years when he was reassigned to London. Before leaving Hong Kong and returning to Florida before his move to London, Tuthill decided to take one last fishing trip in the South China Sea.
The trip, it would turn out, was record breaking. Tuthill, who grew up in the Florida Keys and lived in Ft. Lauderdale before being assigned to Hong Kong for work, caught a 500-pound-plus blue marlin in the South China Sea. This is the first big marlin of any kind recorded as being caught out of Hong Kong. Tuthill hooked the fish on a dolphin lure on a 50-pound outfit.
Our congratulations on such a spectacular catch. We look forward to hearing about Tuthill’s offshore England adventures, too.
