The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk will launch a new lecture series in October called “The Maritime Aquarium Presents…” designed to share various perspectives on the world’s oceans. The series includes an impressive array of speakers beginning with Dr. Carl Safina  founding president of the Blue Ocean Institute, an adjunct professor at Stony Brook University and host of the PBS series “Saving the Ocean with Carl Safina.” Safina is author of six books and roughly 200 scientific and popular publications. The schedule for the remainder of the lecture series includes presentations by:

  • Emmy-winning biologist and adventurer Jeff Corwin for two shows on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
  • Fabien Cousteau, grandson of Jacques Cousteau, on Thursday, February 6, 2014.
  • Environmentalist Dr. Daniel Botkin on Monday, March 10, 2014.
  • Sharon dentist Dr. Martin Nweeia, an expert on the rare narwhal, on Monday, April 7, 2014.
  • Zookeeper/TV host Jack Hanna for two shows on Tuesday, May 7, 2014.
  • Weston author Richard Hyman, who will talk about his expeditions aboard Jacques Cousteau’s Calypso, on Monday, June 23, 2014.
