We’ve been getting reports from Saltwater Nation citizens all around Southern California that the fishing is absolutely great right now. We’ve heard from anglers from Santa Barbara down to Santa Monica and even as far south as San Clemente reporting excellent catches of barracuda, black seabass (remember, all black sea bass must be released), blue perch, cabezon (a kind of sculpin), calico bass, halibut, lingcod, red snapper, rock sole (really a kind of flounder, not a sole, which only live in the Atlantic), rockfish, sand bass, sculpin, sheephead, Spanish jack (great to see these back in Southern California waters), Spanish mackerel, white seabass, whitefish, and yellowtail. It’s summer in Southern California; what could be better?
