Ok, so this doesn’t directly have anything to do with saltwater fishing, but it’s pretty cool, nonetheless.

The world’s largest solar powered boat, the Planet Solar, is currently docked in London, after completing a Deep Water expedition along the Gulf Stream collecting data about oceanic conditions and global warming.

The boat boasts 512 square meters of photovoltaic cells in its 809 solar panels and is capable of generating 480 kilowatts per hour on a sunny day. The Planet Solar is a scientific research platform operated by the University of Geneva. The British online news service Mail Online has posted some magnificent pictures and of the Planet Solar as it made its way up the Thames into London; you can link to them here.
