Inventive Fishing loves when we hear from other members of the Saltwater Nation about their own fishing tips.
As part of a regular series, Captain Judd Wise of the “Lil” Butt Nakid and Team Wise Fishing will provide a weekly fishing tip based on his years of fishing out of Fort Myers and Key West. Enjoy.
Anglers,
Most fisherman are plan-orientated on where they wish to fish. But most don’t leave the house with a float plan. I can’t express how important a float plan can be. A float plan lets someone know what you are doing for the day and what time you are expected to return to the dock. Below is what “Lil” Butt Nakid leaves at the house or with my neighbor. We never leave the house without posting one.
If you trailer your boat to a boat ramp, you might also provide this location, as well as your vehicle and trailer tag number. My family knows that if I am not home one hour after the time posted for the dock, and can’t reach me on the cell phone, they are to notify the Coast Guard.
Remember, 5 minutes to fill this out may SAVE YOUR LIFE! Make one up for yourself and get copies made.
Safety on a boat is the number priority!
